What’s Your Daily Skin Care Routine?

Ask a woman her daily skin care routine and you will likely hear about plucking, coloring or primping. True beauty starts long before these steps however, or at least it should. Every day the skin conscious person should start with a healthy, daily skin care routine.   Radiant, happy skin rarely ‘just happens’. The first step then really is, make your own daily skin care routine, just that – a routine.

Clean Skin is Happy Skin

And happy skin starts off with a gentle cleanser. Dirt gets trapped in your pores every time you touch your face. Zits and blackheads often start off as bacteria that’s passed from your hands, so protecting that healthy glow starts off with a clean canvas! Don’t touch your face with your hands, especially if you have breakouts or blackheads. Resist the temptation to pick, or squeeze any bumps that do arise as this always makes your complexion issues worse and can leave scars. Find a good gentle cleanser and use it daily – preferably twice a day! Avoid those containing harsh chemicals or drying masks or scrubs. If you have problem skin, its especially important to avoid harsh products. Exfoliate once a week twice if you must.

Protect and Defend Your Skin!

Sun block isn’t just for babies anymore, Dermatologists recommend people of every age use it, regardless of the season or climate. The damaging rays of the sun work year round to cause spots, wrinkles and discolorations that are hard to heal. As with most healthy skin issues a ounce of prevention is worth a a pound of cure. Find a good, gentle, low-SPF sun block that’s made for use on the face and your skin will thank you for years to come. Use it every day, even when it’s cloudy.

Moisturize Religiously

Perhaps the most important step in any daily skin care routine, is moisturizing. This step should become as regular and consistent as brushing your teeth or combing your hair! Even if you have oily skin, you must moisturize daily for optimal skin health. There are loads of notions, potions and lotions all claiming to be the ‘best’ moisturizer on the market. Find one you like, that you can afford to use daily and that works for your skin. Make this your go-to step in your daily skin care routine and you will see lasting results.
